So, here is the Lilydale Fossil Park fossil identification sheet that I scanned as a jpeg so that you should be able to “save as” and print it if desired.
Below is a link to Science Buzz and if you scroll down you will find a link to a PDF that goes into detail about Lilydale Park – 20 pages, I believe – that you can download. Very worthwhile if you are going to fossil hunt in this park. This ID sheet is from that PDF.
Note of Interest: This is the second ID sheet I have scanned and posted (check Fossil ID sheets in the catagories menu for the other) and I have noted that the line drawings are almost, if not exactly, identical. BUT the names have changed on some of the IDs slightly when down to the species level. So, I’m thinking that these may be generic drawings (not copyrighted) that are passed around from one park to another with only layout differences and changing the species names to look different. So, how accurate these are to the species level is very questionable. I would even question if these are the common fossils in our area. But certainly better than nothing!
Do you have a fossil ID sheet you would like to share?
